As I recently learned middle schoolers in the Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) cannot earn high school credits even if they are taking a high school class at a high school. This is just a dumb rule and completely unfair to the student because the class they are taking does not amount to anything that can help them jump ahead other than just starting them out at a higher level. If we can get SASD to reverse this decision it would not only help my fellow classmates and I but it would also help the kids in the future who have to deal with this. We this petition I will try to lobby the school board and the superintendent to get rid of this dumb rule which is just meant to not give any rewards to the kids who go above and beyond. (Personally story time) I learned about this because I am taking geometry at a high school. A few of my fellow classmates and I walk over there virtually ever school day and from the way they made it sound at the start of the year I presumed I was going to get high school credits for this class. So at least in Wisconsin, geometry is a high school course and this is the class my classmates and I are taking. There are eight eighth graders in the class and the rest are made up of high schoolers. All the high schoolers get credit for the same class we are taking but we do not. This is just not fair and that’s why I encourage you to sign this petition to help get my school board to get rid of the obscene rule.
