Stop punitive traffic fines in Sea Point

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

Sea Point is being overrun with Cape Town Metro “Police” whose only objective it seems is to ticket cars and generate traffic fine revenue for non-violations.

Causing a lot of aggravation to us residents and also frustration.

Not to mention the hassle of having to now go to the traffic department to appeal these tickets.

We are calling on all Cape Town resident to rally together to stop this bullying by these so called fines.

Have we not always had the right to park in a loading zone after 6PM or on Saturday after hours or Sundays?

Looking up the city bylaws confirms this - see below.

In the evening and on Sunday it’s been observed these police start writing fines to vehicles parked in the loading zones.

Pointing out to them that the bylaws state 7am to 6pm had no effect, they responded that loading zones are 24 hours and they can fine a vehicle at any time for parking there. In some case their response was "back off or we arrest you on the spot for obstruction of justice"

Please I urge you to sign this petition and contact your local DA counselor to stop this. After all it is them enforcing the rules. If that fails, go to the press, social media and any other way to make this known.
