It is important to restore personal liberties and respect the rights of families to decide what is best for their families by ending the mask mandates in our schools! Students should be welcome to wear masks in schools if they wish, but should not be obligated to do so.

Healthy children (those without underlying conditions) are not at risk of hospitalizations or death from COVID-19.

The data speaks for itself. The survival rates of children with COVID-19 are sky-high at 99.9+%. "Only 0.1%-1.6% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in hospitalization. ​In states reporting, 0.00%-0.02% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in death."

The pandemic has turned into an endemic, and we must realize this is something that we must learn to live with. Masks have not been effective in our schools, as most students wear cloth masks (often not washed) and many don't wear them properly. Only N95 masks have been shown to have some protection, but they only protect the person wearing them. (This means those who choose to be protected are!)

Masking has had detrimental effects on the education and mental well-being of our children. Let's focus on good education instead of fear-monger in our schools. It is time to return to normalcy and restore personal choice by stopping the mask mandates in our Shawnee Mission Schools.
