In Georgia, people experiencing mental health crises can only be transported to a hospital emergency department by a police officer (O.C.G.A. 37-3-42). It's time to start treating people who are experiencing a mental health emergency like patients instead of criminals. Give these patients the ability to be treated like a patient by an EMT or Paramedic under the direction of a physician. Support Georgia Senate Bill #40.
