Robert Giblin started this petition to Shane Ross (Minister for Transport)

Hi All,

I'm calling on all car owner's in ireland to unite and stand together by sending a clear message to the Irish government by saying enough is enough. The constant increasing cost of fuel (petrol and diesel) is not acceptable as these are not luxuries but necessities for getting to work and bringing our children to school.

The factors affecting oil prices are beyond the governments control (geo-political), but the Irish government apply severe duties and taxes which are within their control to decrease if enough pressure is put on them to do so.

This situation is not sustainable and does not support economic growth but hinders people's quality of life. Action is required urgently by everyone. No time any longer to sit on the fence and let the government do as they please.

For example Diesel in September 2018 cost 139.9

Price of Diesel before taxes = 63.838

I'm demanding that the government provide a tempoary reduction in the duties and taxes until the prices stabilize (eg) reduce vat to 13.5%

or

provide a tax credit in the upcoming budget to ease the burden imposed by these punitive taxes.

These constant increases are eroding people's standards of living and removing any disposable money people have in their pockets.

This needs to stop immediately.

I'd appreciate your support by signing this petition to take control back from the government.
