At Shakopee, the upperclassmen choirs are meant to feel equal. However, they hardly ever do. And now, both juniors AND seniors from our Concert Choir (mixed) are going to an event that only seniors from Bel Canto (all female) are invited to. It appears to us that all choirs are NOT created it equal, and if admin wanted this to be fair, they'd take an equal number of juniors from both choirs. The choirs already feel unequal, as girls have to be selected to audition for Concert Choir, but performing at Hosanna with an orchestra is a big deal, and the girls in Bel Canto believed only the seniors from both choirs were going (which would be fair). But taking the juniors from only one choir immediately makes the Bel Canto juniors feel less than. It's not fair, it's not equal (even though Admin swear the choirs are), and it's unjust. The directors can preach that Bel Canto and Concert are equal, but this action only further proves they aren't. Let's change that, and get our voices heard!
