Dear Prime Minister, Please don't kill the Inbound Tourism Industry in India!!

After some of your great initiatives like Make in India, Start up India , Clean-up India the Inbound Tourism Industry was looking forward to "Come,Visit India "
Unfortunately through the new GST taxation for the Inbound industry , the finance ministry is trying to say "Go away from India"
According to estimates prepared by the National Council for Applied Economic Research(NCAER), Tourism contributes as much as 6.77% to India’s total GDP through direct and indirect impact. To put this in context, this is nearly as much as India’s much touted Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing industry, which contributes around 7.5% to the economy according to industry body NASSCOM.
By increasing GST rate to 28% for hotels priced above Rs 5,000, you would decrease inbound tourism by atleast 10% as per tourism experts.
Each non-budget tourist contributes atleast Rs 150,000 to the Indian economy in the form of hotel spending, transport, shopping, eating, guide fees, railways etc.
By increasing taxes to 28% on mid-to-high class hotels, and zero tax for hotels priced Rs1,000 or less - what is the signal we are trying to send ? That India would prefer only backpackers , and for those with more money spends , look for other destinations ! As it is, India is a more expensive destination when compared to other countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia etc .
Please, dear Govt, let us not make it more expensive and kill Inbound tourism industry.
Let us have one standard rate of 12% GST for every kind of hotel to keep parity and achieve our beloved Prime Minister's dream of making India one of the top destinations for the International traveler.
