Free and accessible menstrual products on Maryland's campus
Why this petition matters
According to our research, lack of access to menstrual products can affect both the health and education of students. Being a University, we believe it is especially important to guarantee the equal rights to health and education by providing free and readily available menstrual products. We are proposing that the University of Maryland purchase menstrual product dispensers that will be restocked in the same capacity as other bathroom necessities such as toilet paper. Our desired outcome is to start by placing 15 dispensers in various women and gender neutral bathrooms on campus as phase one with the hopes of expanding the locations in the future. These dispensers will be coin-less, cost-less, and accessible to all. By providing coin-less dispensers, no student would feel the need to leave products in for too long, risking their health, or would have to skip or be late to class because they needed to travel off-campus for products. By signing this petition you are supporting our initiative to bring coin-less menstrual product dispensers to campus bathrooms.
