First off, I would like to say that I’m so incredibly grateful that Spring Grove is able to be back to face-to-face learning this year! Many others, including myself, believe that this school year has been very successful with the mask mandate being optional. This gives us students so much freedom, and has made the 2021-2022 school year very successful, compared to the previous years.

Along with this situation, research has been done, and studies show that most student’s grades have increased dramatically with them having the choice to wear a mask, and not being forced to. This shows that having the mask being required, puts so much more pressure on everyone, that I believe is unnecessary. With not having an option, as well as not having our own right, there’s so many people's mental health declining with adapting to such a big change, that most of us still haven’t gotten used to. 

I, Abigail Burrs, feel as though everyone should have the option to wear a face covering, and we SHOULD NOT be forced to if we feel as though we’re safe without it. All of us only get to experience high school once, and we all want this school year to be as normal as possible. I believe that we need a change, we need our voices to be heard, and we need to make this year the best it possibly can be.
