Aikman garage is currently designated as only faulty/staff and resident parking. The first two levels are staff/faculty and the 3rd and 4th levels are resident parking. The 2nd level of faculty/staff parking is hardly even used as there are free spots throughout the entire day on the first floor. All of the faculty/staff that park in the garage could easily fit on the first level. On the other hand, the 4th level of the garage, designated as resident only, is literally never used. There are less than 10 cars on the 4th level at any time during the day. Music majors especially, since there are well over 400 of us - have a one tiny parking lot that fills up at 7:45am everyday and no one leaves because of the classes we have. On top of the one tiny parking lot we get, an entire section of it is designated as faculty/staff! I say that the 2nd level of Aikman garage be opened up to residents and commuters as well as the 3rd and 4th. With the university’s recent parking changes, this would actually make parking accessible to everyone on campus and avoid further ticket fees.
