SFA has allowed professors to create their own attendance policy. For many, professors are only allowing absences/the ability to zoom for class in the case that a student has been exposed to or has Covid. This is contradictory to the many messages that SFA has put out saying “if you feel sick, stay home”. A student should be able to zoom at the very least in the case that they feel unwell. This petition is in place to prevent professors from being able to deduct 10 grade points in the case that a student exceeds 3 absences. This will also promote student body physical and mental health. There is still an ongoing pandemic and their have been a surplus of other illnesses. No one should be penalized for being sick; whether that be covid or not. We can not and will not be expected to make such a shift after enduring a year long pandemic/all online courses.
