The 400 Divisadero project is too massive for the neighborhood
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
As it stands, the 400 Divsadero property, currently the site of a Shell station, will be developed into a massive six-story apartment complex with 200 plus, 575-square foot, family-unfriendly units. As currently proposed, it will fill the entire lot, sidewalk to sidewalk with no setback, staggered stories (those shown that are staggered are subject to different zoning rules), or anything else to mitigate its overwhelming size.
The average structure in the area is two or three stories. Look to the far right of the image to get an idea of the discrepancy in size. It's the only drawing in the 11/8/2017 proposition that comes close to conveying the dominating nature of the structure. Also note the roof/elevator extensions which take it almost another full story, albeit with setback.
By signing this petition you're expressing your desire to those in charge of the project, as well as the SF planning department and other government officials, that the development be altered to a design that enhances the current visitor-friendly feel of neighborhood, or find another use that better serves SF in general.
Please note that this project and others proposed on the Divisadero corridor were grandfathered in under the older, largely ineffective affordable-housing requirements.
