We believe that all educators should receive special training in how to recognize and address sexual and domestic abuse in their students. As mandatory reporters, teachers should be required to know the signs and behaviors of abuse victims. As well as be able to report the abuse and comfort and support the student after the fact. Studies show that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys will be abused before they are 18. These ages are secondary and primary school ages. To project the safety, education, and future of a child, educators must take on the role of preventing this abuse.
