Last year the Sevier County school staff returned to school with the knowledge that they were putting themselves and their families at risk for Covid by being in direct contact with our children. They were allotted 10 paid quarantine days last school year. This school year we are experiencing a Covid surge in our local community, but our school staff is not allotted any paid quarantine days. If they have to quarantine, they are only getting paid if they have enough days accrued. We are petitioning the school board to use the federal Covid funds that they have received to reinstate the 10 paid quarantine days policy for Sevier County school staff members. Our frontline school staff should NOT have to stress over not getting paid and experience financial hardship if they have to quarantine this school year.
