No Quarry RV Village

  • Preserve and protect the Old Stone Quarry, a "hidden gem" in Door County. Please vote "No" on a Conditional  Use Permit (CUP) for a Multiple Occupancy Development and Campground variance to develop a 57.02 acre RV Village on Bay Shore Drive. The beauty, peacefulness and natural characteristics of the Niagara Escarpment will be destroyed by the 117 Class A Motor  homes on tiny lots and 115 houses. Please protect and preserve the quarry from permanent destruction.  Once this Door County treasure is developed it is gone forever!

We are concerned about the risk to public health and safety from the harmful limestone dust from massive blasting and grinding and increased  traffic dangers in this recreational area. Also, the bedrock ledge at the Quarry is highly susceptible to ground water contamination.

This historical landmark on the shores of Green Bay once provided stone for building throughout the Great Lakes and is a beacon for ships and  boats entering the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal.  The peacefulness of Bay Shore Drive invites biking,  walking, and fishing. Annually, thousands enjoy its rural character  for special events like Sturgeon Bay Bass Tournament, Door County Century Bike Ride and the Fall Fifty.

Stop this sub-division from destroying the Door County we love. Please vote "No" on the Conditional Use Permit!
