It has been proposed by the governors of the school to cut their working weeks, reduce their pay, whilst asking them to work more hours.
In real terms this means that the Teaching Assistants who look after and support your child will be losing on average around £4,000 a year! Could you afford to lose that amount of money from your salary?
We have huge concerns over the TAs in Settlebeck school being paid considerably less than those around the county. This could mean that all of their expertise and knowledge will go to other schools. Asking the question ‘who will be left to look after and support your child? Can the school afford to lose their knowledge and experience?’ Many have said they will have to leave, as the drop in salary will not cover household bills and living costs.
Many have gone above and beyond for the school over many years to ensure that each child gets the best possible support in achieving their goals.
The Teaching Assistants aren’t asking for a pay increase all they want is for their wages to remain the same as they are now.
