Set Guidelines for Events Booking in City Venues
Why this petition matters

THE PETITIONERS, as tax paying citizens, express concern to the City Commission, Mayor of Amarillo, TX and County Commissioners of Potter, Randall and surrounding counties, request you to review, re-evaluate or redefine any and all standards in place regarding the use, rental or lease of City and County Venues. We strongly ask for restrictions be put in force to protect traditional standards protecting the purity and sanctity of children and family values.
We, the undersigned, do hereby request family centered guidlines be put in place to prohibit or restrict destructive, immoral and satanic events, programs, artists or exhibitions which would undermine the moral fiber of our community. REFER TO TEXAS PENAL CODE SECTION 43, SUBCHAPTER B.
We respectfully request the leadership of our city, county and area be prepared to protect our children and communities from any and all such destructive programs that use, advertise and attract audiences to our public facilities.
We respecfully ask you, as city fathers, to consider what you would want your children to be exposed to and what you would want to be allowed in your own home, as you set and re-evaluate these guidelines to protect our city and area's legacy for generations to come.
Specifically, The Drag Queen Christmas Show and the recent R Rated Magic Show come to mind as inappropriate for our culture and families.
UPDATE REGARDING ORDINANCES OR LAWS GOVERNING DRAG QUEEN CHRISTMAS...
IT Looks like laws to stop this already exist at the state level:
Check out Texas Penal Code Section 43, Subchapter B. Obscenity, specifically Sections 43.21 through 43.24. These drag shows include provocative dress and dance but also apparently include verbal discussion of sex acts and other vulgar topics — all in front of children. IT APPEARS SUCH PUBLIC SHOWS seem to be prohibited in these sections of Texas Penal Code.
