Service NL: It's Time For Change!
Why this petition matters

There are over 50,000 households in Newfoundland and Labrador that live in a rental property. Each of those households, and the landlords they rent from, depend on Service NL to enforce their rights under the Residential Tenancies Act when things go wrong. Unfortunately many landlords and tenants feel like the government has let them down.
Delays receiving a hearing for dispute resolution, and receiving a decision after the hearing, have increased the losses people have suffered and have increased the frustration faced by people that have no choice but follow this process.
The hands-off approach Service NL has taken to enforcement of fines allows some people to regularly violate the law without repercussion. Landlords and tenants are left to fend for themselves, and this gap allows some people to game the system knowing there will be no consequences.
Sign this petition and let the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Service NL, know that this isn't good enough. Let them know that you expect timely hearings and decisions, and real penalties for those that choose not to follow the law.
It's time for a change!
