This petition has the goal of reopening Michelangelo Antonioni Museum in Ferrara, closed in 2006.

In 1995, the Municipal Council of Ferrara has purchased from the internationally acclaimed Maestro of Cinematic Art, Michelangelo Antonioni, an impressive Archive of more than 47,000 pieces regarding Antonioni's life and works, most of them unpublished and unknown, including: films and documentaries, original screenplays, letters by the main protagonists of 20th century international cinema and culture (Roland Barthes, Andrej Tarkovskij, Luchino Visconti, Giorgio Morandi, Jack Nicholson and many others), photos taken on set, the book and records library of the director, the many awards that he won over the years, Antonioni's paintings, postcards, journals articles, and other personal objects owned by one of the most prominent film directors of all time.

It is not acceptable that such an extraordinary cultural and artistic treasure, which undoubtedly represents an heritage of humanity is not open to the worldwide audience (Antonioni's cinema lovers, experts, scholars, tourists, etc.) in a permanent way, despite 25 years of local authorities' promises of reopening soon.

After 15 years from Antonioni's death, it is time to produce a detailed project for an International Museum, based in Ferrara, where Antonioni was born, with a deadline for reopening.
