Let my dad out of jail!
My dad is one of the 28 Greenpeace activists, who, along with a freelance photographer and a freelance videographer, have been jailed and charged with piracy and then also hooliganism in Russian courts, following a peaceful protest to try and save the Arctic.
This only happened because Russian security forces officers illegally boarded and seized the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise via helicopter.
Peaceful activism is vital when governments fail to respond to catastrophic climate change, and this disproportionate response is purely intended to intimidate people who stand up to companies and countries that are causing global warming.
Please help me to free my dad, Peter Willcox, along with the 29 others being held -- and stand up to protect the Arctic.
- Russian Ambassador to the United States
Your government is currently holding my dad in jail -- he was wrongfully arrested in international waters along with 29 others following a peaceful protest of a Gazprom drilling platform.
The charges leveled against him are completely disproportionate to the peaceful actions of a man moved to stand up to protect the planet we all share.
I urge you to do everything in your power to get the charges against him, the 27 other Greenpeace activists, and the two freelance journalists also under arrest, dropped.
