City Manager Charlie Bush epitomizes what we mean by good governance. Under Charlie’s Leadership, the local economy is in better financial shape than many other cities. We have issued half-million dollars in grants to Sequim businesses struggling due to the pandemic. In addition, we issued 100 hours of COVID-19 leave for employees to use at their discretion to deal with family issues related to the virus. We have not laid off a single full-time employee.
We get another benefit from Charlie: he leads with grace. He listens. He works to make Sequim a compassionate, inclusive, and creative community. He initiated the Year of Kindness proclamation. The Sunshine Festival has begun under his tenure. He drove the effort to get half a million dollars in grants that our businesses so desperately needed during the pandemic. He works to bring unity in our very divisive time.
We are bewildered. Why, in the face of these accomplishments, has Charlie been asked to resign?”
We are concerned about this action because it will create a more difficult environment to have reasoned dialogue and attract superior talent to Sequim. It will cast a shadow on Sequim’s famous sunny reputation.
The Sequim Good Governance League wants to move forward with grace, and with the light shining brightly on our city government. Sign the petition to support Charlie—and for the good of Sequim.
