Sensible Tucson Online : Show your support online for a local Ballot Initiative
Sensible Tucson Online is the unofficial local ballot initiative to decriminalize a small amount of marijuana as well as paraphernalia and reduce the penalties from a felony to a petty offense. Yes that's correct, in the State of Arizona which just is up and running with its medical marijuana program (Prop 203), it is a felony to possess any amount of marijuana from a gram (or about a joint) up to 2 pounds is the same offense. So in 2009 there were over 4,500 arrests for possession of marijuana in the Old Pueblo. That's a large number considering the average prosecutor's case load is 1,600 cases. So is our valuable law enforcement time spent on prosecuting small time offenses that the people of Arizona generally support for medical marijuana uses.

Time to finally acknowledge that the current drug policy in the United States is not working for law enforcement or the cannabis community and stop prosecuting our youth for using a small amount of marijuana.
Sign the petition for a Sensible policy in decriminalizing simple possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and make it a petty offense.
If we get 10,000 signatures of registered Tucson voters we'll have this on the ballot in November 2011. The Tucson City Council can make this happen tomorrow if they wanted.
Please let our local politicians know you support Sensible Tucson.
Sign the online ballot and forward it on to another friend for them to sign.
