With the new block scheduling, students have been faced with new exemption rules that are different to those of past years. Concerning the new block schedule, only having two excused absence and one unexcused is unfair to those students who have certain personal problems and cannot attend some school days. (college visits do not count against your exemption status.)The exemption rules should be the same as years passed, three or less excused and two or less unexcused absences, as well as an 85 to qualify for exemptions. It is extremely unfair to change the exemption rules this far into the school year, and not notify the students of the change. Though, being absent from a class shouldn't matter if the grade is still high, it shows the student still knows the information.
