No Confidence in Raeesah Khan as MP
Raeesah Khan is not my Member of Parliament (MP) anymore after losing her integrity for lying in Parliament thrice and impacting the credibility of sexual assault survivors and rape victims in Singapore. Her apology in Parliament hinged on her own unresolved issues as a victim-survivor and while that is highly regrettable and unfortunate, do not justify her actions to breach another survivor's confidentiality and wilfully mislead Parliament for her own agenda, however altruistic her former intentions might be.
It is not enough to apologise and say you are being accountable when you were entrusted with the highest platform for advocacy, abused it, then try to take up that mantle again when the damage is already done. Offence and hurt to an individual and to a nation has now been committed, not to mention a key vulnerable marginalised group who struggle like her with sexual assault experiences. True accountability would be to step down from the powers and privileges as an MP to make proper restitution and win back the trust of the people she promised to serve and insisted she kept her promise to by being "accountable" via apology.
As a resident and voter of Worker's Party (WP) at Sengkang, I now vote no confidence in Raeesah Khan and WP must recover its moral standing in the public eye by removing her immediately as an MP after repeatedly backing her unawares.
