Justice For Indigenous Foster Care Children

Indigenous children make up 48% of all children that are in foster care in Canada, even though Indigenous people only make up 7% of Canada's population. The purpose of our petition is for the Government to realize that although they have went ahead on funding for child welfare services, families are still losing their children due to the lack of skills to care for them. We believe that the Federal Government should invest the funding into providing better child welfare services by allowing indigenous communities to run their own foster facilities on their land under their terms. We also believe that they should use the money to run programs for families to better educate on how to maintain and care for their children under the circumstances they are in in the 2018 budget. With the proper resources and education, we believe that parents as well as children will be more capable of living a more comfortable life and understand the basic necessities. By signing this petition we hope to spread awareness of this ongoing issue that needs more attention. If you would like more information about this topic, please watch the videos attached below.
