Send humanitarian aid to Balkhab to save the IDPs and to prevent a humanitarian tragedy
Why this petition matters
According to videos posted on Independent Persian (https://www.independentpersian.com/node/251046/سیاسی-و-اجتماعی/آوارگان-جنگ-بلخاب-هرچه-داشتیم-طالبان-بردند؛-به-داد-ما-برسید), the IDPs who fled to the mountains of Balkhab and Bamyan a week ago include numerous children, newborns, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with critical illnesses.
The Taliban have obstructed the region's communication, media, and journalistic access. It appears that they have also ceased providing humanitarian aid. It has been reported that the Taliban had ransacked the homes of these IDPs. Hence, they are unable to go back to their homes, and they also lack the resources necessary to survive in the mountains.
The IDPs lack access to potable water, food, clothing, and medicine. There is no means of making baby meals or administering the required medical care. People are overwhelmed by fear as many parents are unable to protect their children. Nobody has a place to lay their head tonight. Every single one of these internally displaced people faces the possibility of losing their life each and every minute.
Over the course of the previous 10 months, the United Nations as well as other humanitarian NGOsprovided more than 800 million USD worth of aid to Afghanistan for various causes. It was stated that the relief would assist those affected by famine, IDPS, and natural calamities. However, the IDPs of Balkhab have been overlooked despite repeated requests to humanitarian NGOs for assistance.
This is a humanitarian collapse
1- We urge that the World Food Program (WFP), the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), and the European Union's Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid as well as other humanitarian NGOs to provide aid to IDPs of Balkhab swiftly.
2- We highly urge humanitarian NGOs to prioritize the provision of medical and humanitarian assistance to pregnant women, children, and the unwell.
3- We demand that the Taliban allow an impartial party to investigate the incident, determine the extent of the harm caused to civilians, and recompense those affected.
4- We urge both the Taliban and humanitarian NGOs to be impartial in their relief delivery to civilians.
