America’s hospitals are open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. And everyday, in every hour, doctors, nurses, surgeons, administrators, and other allied medical professionals provide vital services to our communities.
Hospitals admit nearly 35 million people each year. They treat more than 129 million people in their ERs. They deliver over 3.7 million babies. Virtually every American has benefited in some way from the care of their local hospital – as a patient, a grateful friend or relative, or as a caregiver.
Hospitals are always there for us in our time of need. And now, we need to be there for them.
Dire budget cuts could make it harder for hospitals to meet the needs of patients in their communities. These cuts – in the form of the sequester and possible cuts proposed in debt ceiling negotiations – could create longer lines at the ER, force some trauma centers to close, and reduce access to cutting edge technology.
Tell Congress we need to keep our hospitals strong.
