Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema have both spoken out about how they support the filibuster. They claim that it fosters bipartisanship and that passing legislation on a partisan basis will deepen the divide in this country.

What country are they living in?

After the 2020 election, Republican lawmakers across the country have introduced hundreds of voting restriction laws in Republican held Statehouses across the country. This historic attack on our voting rights has been labeled Jim Crow in a suit and tie. They are seeking to:

End voting by mail

Reduce the amount of polling places in Democratic strongholds (forcing people to wait hours to vote)

Make it a crime to give voters standing in line food or drink

Make it easier for Republicans to simply overturn elections they disagree with or not certify elections they don’t approve of.

This assault on our voting rights is being challenged in court but it may not be enough. We need federal action at a time when inaction is the preference of the enemy! Just read what Minority Leader Senator McConnell said: “One hundred percent of my focus is standing up to this administration,” the Kentucky Republican said at a press conference in his home state Wednesday, in response to questions about infighting among House Republicans. “What we have in the United States Senate is total unity from Susan Collins to Ted Cruz in opposition to what the new Biden administration is trying to do to this country,”

That statement alone should have changed Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinemas stance on the filibuster and HR1, but it has not.

That is why I made this petition. If enough people sign, we can show Manchin and Sinema that THE PEOPLE who voted for them - and President Joe Bidens agenda – have had enough of the Filibuster!
