Include Treeby In The New Piarawaters Secondary College (planning name) Catchment Area
Why this petition matters
To Hon. Sue Ellery, MLC and Minister for Education and Training,
The Treeby community has heard word that Treeby will not be included in the catchment area of the new secondary school to open in Piara Waters. We are writing to you to request you to consider incorporated Treeby in the local intake area of the prospective Piara Waters Secondary College (PWSC).
As the school is just getting built on corner of Warton road and Jandakot road, its a less than five minute drive from the residential areas of Treeby, and especially with our recently incorporated bus route, it will be accommodating for students who travel to school by themselves. The incorporation of Treeby in the catchment zone will provide ease of access to the parents in the community.
Currently, Treeby is part of Atwell Senior High Schools intake zone. After the most recent count in semester two, 2021, the student population of Atwell SHS is 1350. At the moment this number seems quite moderate considering the size of the school, but given the expansion of development and population increase in the area, there is a high chance that Atwell will progressively become over-populated which could possibly compromise the quality of education that students receive. By extending PWSC’s local intake area, this contingency can be avoided in the long-term.
After consolidating the opinions of the Treeby residents, we as a community collectively agree that we would like an opportunity to benefit from the contemporary facilities of a brand-new school. As a recently established and ever-growing community, we feel that we should be given the chance to interact with a modern environment.
We the undersigned kindly request you to consider including Treeby in the local intake area of Piara Waters Secondary College.
Kind regards,
The Treeby Community
