Public broadcasting in Australia is a luxury, not a necessity.Demand the Aussie TV TAX now

Australian taxpayers expect taxes to be spent on essential services and goods, as needed.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) costs taxpayers $1.22 billion annually, the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), $282 million and National Indigenous Television (NITV) $15 million.
A staggering annual total of $1,517,000,000.
This petition is simple -
If you want the ABC, SBS and NITV, then you pay for it.
Don't expect other taxpayers to pay for what is NOT an essential service.
This petition calls for a simple tick box mechanism to be included in Australian tax returns from 2018 asking if a taxpayer wants to fund the ABC, SBS and NITV.
If the taxpayer ticks the box, the set amount (to be determined) is recovered to pay for the ABC, SBS and NITV.
If the taxpayer does NOT tick the box, the taxpayer does NOT pay for the ABC, SBS and NITV.
If enough taxpayers sign this petition we can lobby to have the 'TV TAX' put in place by 2018. Sign today.
