Introduce random drug and alcohol testing in parliament

Pee before pay? The government, in its 2017 Budget, clearly thinks that's fair enough for welfare recipients, but why stop there?
Conduct random drug testing of politicians during sitting times, and alcohol-test all members of parliament as they enter the chamber. The Australian people must be able to trust that decisions governing us have been made by elected representatives in full control of their faculties.
Pilots cannot drink before they fly and random drug and alcohol testing occurs in several industries. Motorists are subjected to random breath-testing and now welfare recipients are going to have to pee to prove they are eligible for dole payments. The people controlling the purse-strings - our politicians - should have to prove to us, the Australian people, that their thinking processes are not drug- or alcohol-impaired when they are involved in the important business of governing this country.
