In the past Australians used around 4 BILLION plastic bags  Every - Single - Year. That is more than half the population of the entire WORLD...  Currently Australia only recycles a mere 3% of plastic bags produced and we send 7150 plastic bags to landfills every single minute. To make matters worse, over 50 million plastic bags each year get lost on their way there, contributing to the death of countless birds and marine life each year. 

If you care about a clean and healthy world this is certainly a petition for you. 

Just ONE plastic bag takes up to  ~1000 YEARS~  to decompose, and still after all these years the plastic does not just suddenly disappear, but instead breaks down into thousands of micro plastic pieces continuing to cause environmental harm and becoming part of the food chain once eaten by animals. 

And you may not realise it, but when you hear those stories about turtles floating up to the surface due to ingesting plastic bags, or birds grievously choking on plastic - well, that could have easily been YOUR plastic bag that you used the other week at Coles. Even if it wasn't your plastic bag in that exact situation, it is more than likely that the plastic bags that YOU have used have killed countless animals.

This is not okay. In fact, it's the complete opposite of okay. We are destroying our planet. This is our one and only home and we SHOULD be treating it with much more care. We can do better. We NEED to do better.

We need to do everything we can to stop this crisis from getting even worse than it already is. Lets ban plastic bags completely. Not just single use plastic bags (as some states have done). All of them. It's really not that hard, all you have to do is use reusable bags which are extremely easy to buy. Or even better, You could MAKE your own shopping bag out of fabric from an old shirt! This would be an even better alternative as the process of factories producing these bags involves ~GLOBAL WARMING ~. Here is a website I found on how to make an easy reusable shopping bag:

Australia would be a much better place if people just made these simple eco-friendly decisions. Plastic bags are absolutely terrible and we do not need them. Do you really want your children and future generations to grow up in a filthy contaminated world? Lets completely BAN plastic bags Australia-wide. We would be saving thousands of animals’ lives, and improving the health of our environment. With your help we can make Australia a cleaner, healthier place.           

                 And if we can do it, we SHOULD do it.
