The Nordic model is dangerous and is designed to punish workers. Ditch her now

I'm appalled the Greens would endorse a candidate with political views aligned with the LNP and other right wing parties, and in conflict with the Greens party position. I have always supported the Greens and felt they were a trustworthy party, however I feel they have breached the trust of their members and supporters by having Kathleen Maltzahn as a candidate. Sex work should be fully decriminalised and the industry regulated to ensure greater safety for sex workers and clients. Now more than ever we need a party like the Greens to win balance of power in Parliament, and I truly believe that Kathleen standing as a Greens candidate will hurt the Greens chances of that and lose votes.

Sex workers deserve all protections and the same respect as any other worker in Victoria.

Abolitionist ideology of consensual adult behaviour has failed in every instance it has been tried: 1920s Prohibition, 1600s Puritanism and contemporary Islamic Fundamentailsm. Its latest guise is the 21st century Swedish(Non) Model of sex work, which is actually an ultra-repressive Puritannical view of sex in all forms, and threatens to undermine decades of progress in the normalization and acceptance of sex as a healthy human activity. Anything more contrary to women's rights than the Swedish (Non)Model - which simply enshrines repression n new clothing- is difficult to imagine. Every country which has implemented the model has failed abysmally to achieve its supposed end goals, and obliterated human rights in the process. This is just another extremist ideology which the world can well do without.

I'm signing because I don't want to see sex workers' lives and livelihoods put in danger by Ms Malzahn's extremely conservative views that deny sex workers any agency and autonomy.

Maltzahn's views stigmatize and oppress sex workers and make them less safe

It is unacceptable that any political candidate in 2018 would support sex work legislation that has been found by over 100 NGOs worldwide to harm the people they claim to help, AND whilst stakeholders in this debate are being globally ignored and actively put in danger.
Under the Nordic model sex worker deaths have risen, crimes against sex workers are going unreported because sex workers are too terrified to report to the police because the police, who are also extremely whorephobic where these laws are in place, stalk sex workers as a way of apprehending clients. Women have had there children taken from them, migrant workers are deported even if they've been residents for almost half their life. Adult children living at home can be arrested for living off the earnings of a "prostitute", as could stay home partners. Workers are evicted if outed, as it's illegal to rent to a sex work. The list goes on and on.

But, for a Greens candidate to hold these laws' ideals as their own, in contradiction with their party's policy of supporting decriminalisation of sex work, is unconscionable! As is the Greens party's inaction year after year while sex workers are lobbying, protesting, writing submissions, attending traumatising workshops where non-sex workers are pushing to have the Nordic model supported, and we're there just fighting for lives and our human rights. You cannot pretend to not understand these issues any longer, you've been told 10 ways to Sunday so ACT NOW! Ditch Maltzahn and STOP throwing sex workers under the bus!
