Sheridan Drive Project

Sheridan Drive Project
NY 324 Pavement Maintenance Project proposal should be tabled and researched in a more comprehensive manner. Local data should be gathered and shared with regard to location/number/type of accidents along this corridor. An evaluation of speed limit and enforcement measures should be provided. A comparison to local projects, especially the Main St renovation/re-striping should be provided before concrete decisions are made. Quantifiable problems must be identified and reviewed, and solutions to benefit the community as a whole devised.
In the interim “No left Turn” signage is requested at the intersection of Sheridan Dr/Wenner Rd and the current 6’ shoulder along Sheridan Dr be re-striped as a dedicated bike lane. These simple proposals would not adversely affect traffic along this corridor and require little study to justify. If a 6’ shoulder conversion to bike lane on Main St is acceptable, then logically a 6’ shoulder conversion to bike lane on a less heavily trafficked roadway should be acceptable as well. Prohibiting left turns on/off Wenner will prevent accidents at the current curved intersection and only minimally impact drivers. It would be helpful to change the signal at Sheridan/Shimerville to include left turn advance arrows, but even if not updated the visibility at this intersection is much more conducive to left turns.
