We need a Traffic light on a dangerous street

I am writing this petition in regards to installing a left turn signal at a Brooklyn intersection located at Bay Ridge Parkway and 7th Avenue. With heavy traffic at this intersection and a school near-by, many parents frantically run through yellow and at times red lights, while other drivers trying to make the left turn rush and cut one another off to make the turn in time. All of this is happening while parents and students are also crossing these intersections to walk to class and work. We need to take action and put this turn signal in place before a tragedy happens.
My request of this traffic light has gone on deaf ears to my local city council. I have personally taken it upon myself to contact the NYC Department of Transportation by emailing the head of the DOT and happy to say that I have received a response and they are forwarding my message. Yet, to make this message louder than a single email I am writing this petition to raise awareness and to gather community support to install the safety of a left turn signal at Bay Ridge Parkway and 7th avenue.
So please, take a moment to sign this petition to make our neighborhood safer. I will keep everyone updated as more information is given to me, and remember to drive safe and look both ways before crossing, especially at Bay Ridge Parkway and 7th avenue.
