Kim Cronic started this petition to Chair of Ag Com Rep Tom McCall and

Ruby’s Law hb713 needs to pass. Maureen Harper’s Scottish Terrier Ruby  was having chemo and was refused care because her caring owner refused the rabies vaccination. The vaccine would have killed her. She died anyway because they would not treat her without the vaccine.

Eighteen other states have a compassionate exemption for rabies. My cat also has a compromised immune system and doesn’t need a rabies vaccine. Not only is her immune system compromised but she is an indoor kitty. Rabies vaccine has been proven to last for many years and probably the animal is immune for life after a booster.

Ruby’s owner, whom loved her very much should have never been put in the position of having to choose which way her dog would pass - simply because she loved her and wanted the best for her. Ruby was going through chemo and would have died with the vaccine. The vet that turned treatment down because of her not having a rabies vaccine could have done it anyway but used the rabies law as an excuse. A vet should not be able to decide who they think should live and use rabies as an excuse. I have seen countless people be told to euthanize their animal because a vet doesn’t know what to do for the situation. Ruby needed to be seen. Her parent took her in to have her treated and was refused! GEORGIA NEEDS TO PASS RUBYS LAW!
