Fair and Affordable Air Fares for Regional Australia

Flights between regional Australian towns that connect people living in the bush are over inflated and unachievable to most people. The lack of competition and regulation allows airlines operating these routes to have an unfair advantage and charge over and above in comparison with more popular routes and destinations.
Flights from Cloncurry Qld to Townsville Qld on Thursday 25th May and back on the 27th is $1598
And yet return flights on the same dates from Sydney in Australia to NZ, AMERICA and EUROPE are as follows...
Sydney to New York $1889
Sydney to Las Angeles $1569
Sydney to London $1735
Sydney to Auckland $480
How on earth can it cost less to fly from Sydney to LA return than Cloncurry to Townsville 800kms away.
The Airlines apparently have no comprehension of how this profiteering has such a negative impact on people living in regional areas.
Another example... A couple traveling to his father's funeral having to pay over $2500 for him and his wife to fly from Cloncurry to Brisbane..... People are forced to take out high interest bank loans to spend Christmas with their families.
Qantas was founded in outback Queensland to help the people living in the bush to connect with others and to make life easier, we are now the people who are the most disadvantaged and least likely to be able to access their services.
I'm seeking an enquiry into price gouging and profiteering by Airlines operating in regional areas, regulation of air fares and fair and transparent pricing.
