Mass Alliance Against Predatory Lending started this petition to U.S. Senate and

We are writing to request urgent action. We are sickened by the history of the top policies of the U.S. in relation to the devastating and unnecessary loss of life and permanent health damage by COVID-19, these policies have functioned to allow a greatly disproportionate death rate among people of color.

To date, people of color and communities of color are far less likely to be vaccinated. Reasons include disparate distribution methods and the monetary cost of taking time off minimum-wage jobs to be vaccinated and to recover. Those facing eviction are disproportionately people of color.

The incidence of Covid-19 is rapidly rising again, impacting our communities.

Therefore, we are asking you to call on the CDC to:

            •  extend the eviction protections at least through the end of September, which the FHFA has already done for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in light of the apparent beginning of another wave of the Covid pandemic, and

            • clarify that the eviction moratorium extends to all those who reside legally in non-business premises, whether they happen to have leased these premises or not.

Can you please bring this issue, and proposed resolution, to the urgent attention of CDC Director Walensky? Or Congress and the US Senate must take emergency action themselves.

Yours respectfully and in anticipation,

Sincerely,

Grace C. Ross
