My cousin Juan Villacis and his family have been living in the USA for approximately 17 years. They initially arrived to this country seeking political asylum from Colombia. Juan and Liany Villacis are the parents of twin daughters who are currently 22 years of age. This family has been the perfect example of the American family and the American dream. They have paid their taxes every year since their arrival, own their home, raised their children to be excellent students and productive citizens to our society. Liany Jr. graduated from Baruch College and Maria will be graduating from the same College next month.
Throughout the aforementioned years, they have complied with all the requirements set by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). However, on their last visit to ICE, Juan Villacis, was detained to be deported to Ecuador, where he is originally from. As a result of new laws mandated by President Trump, this family is currently facing a nightmare. Juan Villacis is a licensed and certified physical therapist who has no criminal record and cares for his elderly mother who is an American citizen.
We are seeking for your signature to advocate on behalf of the Villacis-Guerrero family to Senator Chuck Schumer so he can intervene on their behalf for ICE to review their immigration case and to reconsider their decision of deporting the parents and separating this wonderful and loving family.
Please read the following articles explaining in detail the family’s immigration circumstances.
