Jacqueline Schneider started this petition to Senator Camera Bartolotta and all PA Legislators

Throughout Pennsylvania and the US, the attempt to address the “opioid epidemic” has had a disastrous impact on human rights, specifically the right to pain treatment. The over-emphasis on suppression and punishment has created major obstacles to ensuring the access of controlled substances for legitimate medical use. Patients are needlessly suffering and dying in pain because of an imbalanced approach. People suffering pain deserve to have access to medications that reduce suffering. We want the legislators of PA to know that patients with chronic pain from disease and illness, the disabled, Veterans, victims of accidents, injuries and failed surgeries are asking for reform in regard to the current prescribing policies.

“Governments have an obligation to take measures to protect people under their jurisdiction from inhuman and degrading treatment. Failure of governments to take reasonable measures to ensure accessibility of pain treatment, which leaves millions of people to suffer needlessly from severe and often prolonged pain, raises questions whether they have adequately discharged this obligation”.
