Stronger Rural Health – Recruitment and retention – Workforce Incentive Program. This program seeks to improve access to allied health services to rural and regional communities by providing funding to doctors in General Practices to recruit allied health professionals. Allied health practices deserve the same opportunities as doctors in General Practices to receive funding from the federal government to assist with recruitment of health professionals in rural and regional areas. To deny independent allied health practices the same funding opportunities as doctors damages the health choices of patients;  and impacts directly on the viability of existing allied health practices in rural and regional areas by creating an anti competitive market distortion of the workforce. This policy will force the closure or reduction in service of some established allied health practices, directly reducing health outcomes in the very communities the federal government strives to improve. This federal funding could be spent  in a much more innovative manner than that proposed.  Workforce shortage of allied health professionals is a real problem. Don't support a policy that will make this shortage worse for established independent practices.
