Senate Republicans: Pass the Veterans Job Bill. NOW.
After everything our veterans have done for us, the least we can do is make sure they are afforded every opportunity to thrive here at home.

- U.S. Senate
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Senate Republicans; Pass the Veterans Job Bill.
Pass the Veterans Jobs Bill. Now.
Republicans have voted down legislation that would have established a $1Billion jobs program over a five year period, to put unemployed veterans back to work. This is shameful and disgraceful.
After everything our veterans have done for us, the least we can do is make sure they are afforded every opportunity to thrive here at home. More than 720,000 veterans are unemployed across the nation, including 220,000 veterans who have served since Sept 11.
One in four young veterans are unemployed. Younger veterans are especially vulnerable to unemployment after deployment. Around 20% of 18-24-year-old veterans are unemployed.
The jobs bill passing will help provide veterans with their self-esteem that is so critical to their transition home.
The Veterans Jobs Corps bill — which is part of President Obama’s push to secure jobs for veterans — would have provided $1 billion over five years to hire 20,000 young veterans for public lands jobs and prioritize vets for first responder jobs such as police, firefighter, or EMT. The measure would have also provided young vets access to the infrastructure with which to assist in job searches, such as access to computers, internet and career services advisers.
The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, a vets group that supported the legislation, called the GOP move “a huge disappointment,” adding, “Today, politics won over helping vets.”
The Republicans has in effect said, "we have spent enough on our veterans". Imagine that.

Let's send a message to Senate Republicans that they need to pass the Veterans Job Bill. And do it NOW.
