The Filipino culture views topics concerning mental health as taboo or as an irrelevant issue. With the rising number of mental health issues and the lack of facilities and professionals aimed at dealing this problem, it is deemed necessary to file a law that would address this issue.
With the current Senate Bill 1354 or the Mental Health Act of 2017 now pending for a second hearing in the Senate, we, the advocates, propose that this bill be prioritized for the immediate passing of it. Furthermore, we address this petition to the whole Senate of the Philippines for them to truly urge for this bill to become a law.
This bill, once filed into law, will allow Filipinos to easily access mental health services and be freed from discrimination. All in all, this bill aims to promote the well-being of Filipinos, especially in the context of mental health.
