Petitioning Senate Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos

Support the NYS DREAM Act and include it in the Senate's budget resolution

The New York State Assembly has included $25 million in its budget proposal to fund the New York State DREAM Act, a bill which would provide equal access to tuition assistance for young undocumented immigrants going to college in New York. The Senate did not include this amount in its budget bill, and Governor Cuomo has remained silent since the bills introduction in 2011. We need to urge Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos to follow the Assembly’s lead by supporting the NYS DREAM Act and including it in the Senate's budget resolution!

Letter to
Senate Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos
The New York State Assembly has included $25 million in its budget proposal to fund the New York State DREAM Act, a bill which would provide equal access to tuition assistance for young undocumented immigrants going to college in New York. It was disheartening to hear that the Senate did not include the NYS DREAM Act in their budget resolution. It is imperative that New York pass the NYS DREAM Act and provide equal access to financial opportunities for the many hardworking and talented youth that have been ignored. The NYS DREAM Act would not only help the thousands of undocumented youth struggling to go to college, but it would also benefit our state by encouraging young people to go to college, graduate, and contribute more to our economy.

We urge you to follow the Assembly's lead by supporting the NYS DREAM Act and including it in the Senate's budget resolution. All New Yorkers deserve the chance to make their dreams a reality!
