There is a piece of legislation in Congress that could be the starting point for getting the justice African-Americans deserve on a policy-making level! This bill has the ability to give African-American people reparations and it also creates an opportunity for the political, social, psychological, and economic struggles of African-American people to be acknowledged.

Historically, The United States of America allowed and supported the enslavement of a race and the consequences of that fundamental injustice are still affecting the descendants of those who suffered the "cruelty, brutality and inhumanity of slavery." This law will establish a commission specifically designed to hold America accountable for systemic racism in this country by examining "slavery and discrimination in the colonies and the United States from 1619 to the present and recommend appropriate remedies."

H.R. 40 is currently in the Senate Judiciary Committee and has no Republican cosponsors. Let's show that the USA is truly dedicated to the advancement of disproportionately affected people by getting this bill that addresses institutional racism passed!
