Why this petition matters

Started by Crystal Peasgood

The Association has tried to keep vehicles from parking on Laura Leigh due to complaints from the residents that they could not see around the vehicles when pulling out on to Laura Leigh Dr. from the Forest Bend THA streets. There is a back up of traffic due to waiting to get around the recently parked Semi Trucks. When school busses go by in the day and afternoon, you can not see the kids waiting due to these semi-trucks. Hopefully they do not dart across the street. Vehicles and especially semi-trucks parking on Laura Leigh are very dangerous but according to the police it is legal in the City of Friendswood. They will not ticket them or tow them due to Laura Leigh is a public street. Houston, TX has an ordinance on vehicles parking on a residential street. This street is within Harris County, but since it is the City of Friendswood, the county will turn to the City for enforcement.

Houston, TX - Code of Ordinances/Chapter 26-Parking/Article II-Sec. 93-96.

We are asking for City of Friendswood to adopt these ordinances as well.

93 - Parking in excess of 24 hours. (no vehicle in street for longer than 24 hours)

94 - Time limit for trailer parking (unlawful to leave, stand or park trailer, semi-trailer, pole trailer or house trailer, on public streets in excess of two hours. )

95 - Parking of Commercial vehicles prohibited between certain hours.  (no parking between 2am - 6 am except during the act of loading or unloading.)

96 - Large vehicle restrictions - (no large vehicle can park on street or highway in any residential district)
