Lesley Van niekerk started this petition to Selkirk Street Residents

Speeding in Selkirk Street has long been an issue which the OM has promised to address.

Unfortunately erecting one stop street cnr Selkirk & Klipspringer Street did not yield the required result.   The majority of the drivers treat that stop street as a yield sign.   Drivers still prefer to use Selkirk as a short cut when heading towards the eastern side of Hermanus Heights - this includes Raed na Gael and Walker Bay Crescent.

The threat of a human accident has always been there.    Cars turn left off Fernkloof Drive and careen around the blind bend as they head down the straight.     This speed makes it risky for residents exiting their property.

The construction of speed humps in Fernkloof Drive seems to have made a significant impact on traffic control and two speed humps in Selkirk Street - one at the bend on the Market side and one replacing the stop street cnr Klipspringer - would probably have a similar affect in our road.

Sadly a black and white cat belonging to one of our residents was killed in a hit and run accident on the morning of 6 August.

Before there is another accident please would you sign this petition which can then be presented to Kari Bryce our Ward Representative.
