Discontinuation of Health insurance coverage for borderline personality disorder

7 out of 10 people with BPD attempt suicide and 1 out of 10 people diagnosed, succeed.
Select Health has decided that coverage for the diagnosis, "Borderline Personality Disorder" or "BPD" is no longer necessary. BPD has MORE of a stigma than mental health disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder because of the complexity of symptoms that make up BPD. Medications and dialectical behavior therapy are the two most common things needed for borderline personalities. A lot of time spent in a behavioral health clinic is very common for those diagnosed with BPD. Depending on the patient, it can take a lifetime to work through. The fact it was deemed uncommon enough to remove the diagnosis from any type of coverage from Select Health is inexcusable and outright wrong. Sign the petition to change this discriminating change. They wouldn't do this to people with diabetes. But then again, diabetes makes them a lot of money. Please learn as much as you can because BPD is a very scary and misunderstood mental illness. Sign today and please share to stop the mental illness stigma.
