I travel extensively with my cameras and lenses – expensive gear – and see a clear need for a technological means to reduce the incentive for theft.

I have empathy for those creatives who have been targeted.

I’ve been mugged. Anyone who says “don’t leave your gear unattended, take precautions” does not understand the reality of how criminals operate and will target you because you have a camera.

Not sure about pairing, but there should be better security

I would feel much safer, if I could use a password on my camera and lenses. I already use passcodes on every high value electronic item, why should cameras be the exception here? My camera equipment is worth so much more than my phone or laptop, it should definitely be secured by a password!

I would be more likely to buy an expensive camera if I wasn't as worried about it getting stolen.

I am scared to shoot at the beach or in public area since I've seen videos and heard about friends getting camera gear stolen.

We should have the ability to track gear that costs an arm or a leg, especially when cameras cost upwards of 10x that of a phone and all phones have the ability to be tracked

Even the cheapest cell phones have tracking technology. If you’re going to put a consumer technology like Bluetooth into camera apps, put tracking in there too. Cameras have had GPS options for decades. This can’t be that hard.

I am signing because my gear was stolen and the insurers refused to pay out. It is also wrong to say that car manufacturers have made vehicles secure. Electronic keys have opened new opportunities for thieves. Also not all camera manufacturers are writing lens serial numbers to EXIF data. I believe this should be legistlated. You should not be allowed to sell a camera unless it writes lens serial numbers to the EXIF file. Camera manufacturers should refer to www.lenstag.com/ for expert feedback.

I've been a professional photographer for 20 years and invest a lot in camera equipment. This safety feature is a must and will also reduce photographers as a target for crime.
