Penny Lyles, a 15-year-old girl, is currently battling to escape an abusive home environment. She has reported the abuse numerous times, but no investigation has ever been initiated. Once, she reported the abuse while living in a small town in Missouri called Thayer. Her and her siblings reported the abuse anonymously with concerns of their parents finding out and them being beaten worse if nothing was done. Her parents never found out but no investigation was done. Their father, Ryan Lyles threatened the case worker that showed up to his address to begin the investigation. The guy ended up quitting his job out of fear from Ryan Lyles. These kids have tried to get help but when it comes down to it their father always gets away with it by threatening others. Currently Penny is in protective custody in New York, she is being requested to return to Oregon where her abusive father resides. As someone close to Penny and having witnessed some of the horrific abuse she's endured at the hands of her father Ryan Lyles, I am urging you all to help protect her.

The household she lives in is not just physically and verbally violent but also emotionally unstable. This kind of environment can have long-lasting detrimental effects on a child's mental health. According to the National Children’s Alliance, nearly 700,000 children are abused in the U.S annually (2018). Sadly, Penny and her siblings are among them.

Penny and I had no choice but to run away from a life-threatening situation involving her father. Penny currently is still being held in Woodfield Cottage in Valhalla, NY. Woodfield Cottage is a Juvenile Detention Facility with a 2.1 star rating. Oregon made an extradition request for Penny to return to Oregon and the judge in New York has signed the papers. We have to continue fighting for Penny and never give up! We must ensure her safety. We must ensure that she gets away from further trauma as these instances are life lasting and can affect some drastically forever. 

We need your support now more than ever as we fight for justice for Penny and work towards ensuring a safe future for her away from any form of abuse or violence. Please sign this petition urging authorities not only investigate these allegations thoroughly but also prevent any forced return of Penny back into an unsafe environment. Where she could be seriously harmed or even killed as her father as threatened to kill her. He is a violent man and a know felon. We need everyone’s help to keep her away from this man!
